Here are Sweden's most and least expensive villa areas
24 June 2026

There are significant differences in house prices between the country's larger cities. The most expensive villa areas are found, not entirely unexpectedly, in Stockholm County. At the same time, there are neighborhoods in several other cities where the average price for a villa is under two million SEK—and in many rural municipalities, prices are even lower.
The most expensive villa area in the country is Torsvik on Lidingö. There, the average price for a villa is nearly 23 million SEK. At the other end of the list is Junsele, a locality in Sollefteå municipality, where a villa costs an average of 367,000 SEK. This means you can get more than 62 villas in Junsele for the price of a single villa in Torsvik.
Among the ten villa areas with the highest prices, nine are located in Stockholm County. The only area outside the county to make it onto the top list is Fridhem in Malmö, where the average price is 19.5 million SEK. This makes Fridhem the country's ninth most expensive villa area.
But even within Stockholm, the differences are vast. The villa area with the lowest average price in Stockholm Municipality is Skärholmen, where a villa sells for just over 4 million SEK on average.
Erik Holmberg, Market Analyst at Hemnet, comments:
"Living in a villa is something many dream of, but the conditions look very different depending on where in the country you look. In some areas, average prices are at levels that are difficult for most households to reach, while in other places there are still villas at significantly lower prices. For the price of one villa in Torsvik on Lidingö, you get over 60 villas in Junsele. This shows how large the differences are in the Swedish housing market."
