Traffic record for Sweden’s leading property portal, Hemnet

Hemnet, Sweden’s most popular property portal, announces that traffic for April has hit new record levels with 62 million visits. This is an increase of 17 percent compared to the same month in 2019. Time spent also hit record levels with over 1,5 million hours spent on Hemnet during week 20.
- We live in a time of economic turbulence and there has been uncertainty around the development of the real estate market during the spring. Based on Hemnet’s data we can see that the interest in homes for sale has never been greater. It is possible that the crisis and the fact that we spend more time at home has made more people reevaluate their current residence. You can assume that more people are longing for more space and a garden, says Cecilia Beck-Friis CEO of Hemnet.
The great interest in homes for sale has remained strong in May. During week 20 Swedes spent more 1,5 million hours on Hemnet, which was an increase of 21 percent compared to the same week last year.
- In Sweden people generally move for the same underlying reasons over time. Couples meet, start families or seperate. We get new jobs or move to study in a different city. Even though there is uncertainty about the economic development the need to move remains, and the turbulence we have seen in the last months actually seems to increase the interest in the real estate market in general, says Cecilia Beck-Friis.
